JMGSA Student Initiative Award

Dear JMSB Graduate Students:

As a member of your John Molson Graduate Student Association (JMGSA) Executive Council, I have had
the privilege to experience first-hand the talent, initiative and energy of JMSB Graduate Students. The
list of achievements by our classmates is numerous and makes me proud to represent our student body.
Every year, one student is selected to receive the JMGSA Student Initiative Award. This award, valued
at $1,000, recognizes the contributions of a JMSB Graduate Student to student life.

To be eligible for the award you must:

1. A student enrolled in a JMSB Graduate program in the 2011-2012 school year
2. Have maintained a GPA of 3.4 or higher
3. Have completed a minimum of 12 credits in your program

Applicants are evaluated based on their involvement with new ideas, activities and events that
enhanced the experience of JMSB Graduate students during the 2011-2012 school year.

To ensure that the candidates are evaluated fairly, we have asked key faculty members from the major graduate programs to be a part of the award selection committee.

The selection committee includes:

Srikanth Sekar – President, JMGSA
Cedrin Law – VP Academic, JMGSA
Dr Alan Hochstein – Interim Dean
Dr Bakr Ibrahim – Associate Dean, MGDP
Dr Harjeet Bhabra – Associate Dean of Research
Dr Ian Rakita – Director, Goodman Institute

To apply, please send us a copy of your CV with a brief e-mail (Subject line “JMGSA Award”) describing:

1. The initiatives you have undertaken and completed
2. The impact these initiatives had both on the JMSB graduate community and your program

Please e-mail this to jmgsavpacademic@jmsb.concordia.ca.

The deadline to apply for this award is Friday, April 13th, 2012 by 11:59pm. The recipient of the award
will be announced at the Year-End Ball on Saturday, April 28th, 2012.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Cedrin Law
